We are living in an age where social media is a vital component of societal communication. As science students today, we use sites like Facebook to connect with family, Snapchat to connect with friends and organizations, Instagram to follow fun news about science, Twitter to get news and network with our peers and faculty members, and other social networks to brand ourselves for the graduate programs or the jobs we want. Everyone can benefit from a basic understanding of the dos and don’ts of social media and how to use social media effectively to become subject experts or share science.
The Communication across the Curriculum (CxC) Science Studio is offering a free social media workshop for student students on October 19th at 4:30pm in Coates 151. The workshop will feature hands-on activities and tips on using social media for science communication with #scicomm expert @fromthelabbench. Register for the event now - only 40 spots are available! http://bit.ly/CxCsocialmedia. Learn how to build your audience and share your science experiences effectively and professionally via social media.
