Be an LSU College of Science Microblogger!
Going to AGU 2017 or another scientific conference?! Be an official conference microblogger for us!
We are offering complimentary student-rate conference registration for selected graduate students and/or undergraduate researchers (up to 3 individuals per conference, depending on funding availability) who produce social media content for the College based on their conference experiences! Selected students will also get one-on-one science communication and social media training from our team!
Official LSU College of Science Student Microbloggers will produce either a multimedia-rich blog post for lsuscienceblog.com or a series of Twitter, Facebook or/or Instagram updates based on their conference experience. Microbloggers might, for example, provide real-time updates from scientific talks they attend, create Instagram features based on interviews with other student or faculty presenters (especially those from LSU), or write a blog post about the scientific research they present at a conference or their conference experience aimed at a broad audience.
Applicants must be graduate students in the LSU College of Science (Biological Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, Museum of Natural Science, Geology & Geophysics, Chemistry, or Math) OR undergraduate researchers who are first author on a scientific conference poster or paper. You must complete the application form below or send us your materials prior to the early bird registration deadline for the conference you will be attending.
Based on their conference experience, LSU College of Science Student Microbloggers will produce either (A) a single blog post for lsuscienceblog.com, or (B) a series of social media updates for LSU College of Science social media channels.
For option (B), Student Microbloggers will produce at least (i) 20-30 tweets + a Twitter Storify curated story, (ii) 3-5 Instagram posts + stories, (iii) a 2-5min Youtube/Vimeo video, OR (iv) 3-5 Facebook posts / 1 photo gallery.
To apply, complete the form below OR e-mail the following application materials in a single e-mail (in a 1-page Word document or PDF attachment) to Paige Jarreau at email@example.com:
